“Duniya kapano 30 min”---what is it actually? 21st Feb. 1952, like all of u, I know no more than what primary history books say---a day when university students sacrificed their lives for Bangla to be the state language. How many of us really do care? Yes by us, I mean specifically the students--the educated society---the backbone of our nation!
Yesterday, 21st of feb. 2010, I went to the national Shahid Minar with my friend Erum, and what we saw there is something you all should know!
The entire area had a complete festive look with people dressed up in colorful clothes, heavy jewellary, makeup etc. They were coming in groups and getting their faces and bodies tatooteed! Some of the tattoos even said “ Ekushey’r Shuveccha”. Do u say, “ Shubho Mrittu Barshiki” on your brother’s death anniversary? Do you party on your brothers death occasion? ভাষা আন্দোলন কি কেবলমাত্র ৩০ মিনিটের এক তুচ্ছ ঘটনা? নাকি এর পেছনে রয়েছে প্রবঞ্চনার ইতিহাস? ৪৭-এ দেশভাগের পর পরই যথন পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানের সুর পাল্টে যায় তখন পূর্ব বাংলায়্ও “ইয়ে আজাদি ঝুটা হ্যায়” শ্লোগান ওঠে। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা হলো হুজুগে বাঙালি যখন বুঝতে পেরেছিল যে, পাকিস্তান আন্দোলনের পুরোধা হিসেবে কাজ করেও তারা স্বাধীনতা পায়নি, সাম্প্রদায়িক দাঙ্গা আর ভয়ঙ্কর রক্তপাতের ওপর দিয়ে হেঁটে বাঙালি পৌঁছেছে বঞ্চনার কাছে। যে কারণে ৪৮ সালেই তাদের মুখের ভাষা বুকের ভাষা বদলে দেয়ার সমন এলো হাতে- ক্ষোভের শুরুটা আগেই ঘটেছিল, এবার তাতে বারুদ যোগ হলো মাত্র, আর বিস্ফারণ? সেতো ঊনপঞ্চাশেই শুরু হয়েছিল, নয় কি?
তাহলে কেন এখন বলা হচ্ছে, “দুনিয়া কাঁপানো ৩০ মিনিট”? একটা দীর্ঘ সময়ের ও অস্তিত্ব রক্ষার আন্দোলনকে মাত্র ৩০ মিনিট সময় দিয়ে বেঁধে আজকের কর্পোরেট বুদ্ধিজীবীরা নতুন প্রজন্মকে কী শেখাতে চাইছে।

it's a matter of shame that even some schools in bangladesh played foreign music on loud speakers on the occasion.all of this happened bt no news channels covered this except ETV.even there is not a single mention about this incident in any single newspaper.may b the bangladesh news agency stopped them in order to protect the face!wat a shame for us.70% people of our country even does not know what really happened last night but everyone has the right to know about it.
just some corporate newspapers and corporate houses r playing with our history making profit with it and we even dont know.
